(Reuters) - Tropical Storm Alex, the first named storm of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, formed on Saturday near Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and could be headed for the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.U.S.
Alex had sustained winds of 40 miles per hour (65 km per hour) and was located about 200 miles east of Belize Cityyouth MLB jersey, Belize.
It was moving west-northwest at 10 mph on a path that was expected to take it toward Belize and over the Yucatan Peninsula during the weekend and then into the Gulf of Mexico, where BP officials are battling to contain a massive oil spill.

The hurricane center said a tropical storm warning, meaning tropical storm conditions were expected within the area in the next 36 hours, was in effect for the coast of Belize and the east coast of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula from Chetumal to Cancun and the island of Roatanwholesale NFL jersey, Guanaja and Utila in Honduras.
